Yearbook Committee Guide
NFC Yearbook Codex · For the people ordering tags, placing them, and onboarding students
What You Need to Know
You're responsible for making sure the NFC yearbook actually works — ordering the right tags, getting them into the book, and making sure everyone creates their profile. This guide covers the end-to-end flow.
Time required from committee: ~10 hours total, spread over 4 weeks.
1. Estimate Your Order
| Item | For a class of 75 |
|---|---|
| Senior portrait tags (25mm NTAG215) | 75 |
| Faculty portrait tags (20mm NTAG215) | ~15 |
| Section opener tags (25mm NTAG215) | 6–8 |
| Inside back cover tag (30mm NTAG216) | 1 |
| Total | ~99 tags |
Hardware cost at this scale: ~$20. The $300 onboarding covers everything else.

2. Coordinate with Eventbuoy
Before ordering tags:
- Confirm your graduating class size + faculty count
- Provide your yearbook theme so print templates can be customized
- Choose a custom domain name (e.g.
classof26.network) - Set a class code (e.g.
GRAD2026)
Eventbuoy handles:
- Network setup (domain, auth, database)
- Print layout template design
- Tag programming and labeling
- Admin dashboard setup
- Placement guide PDF
3. Placement — Where Tags Go
Senior Portraits
- Tag: 25mm NTAG215
- Position: Bottom-right corner of each portrait
- Icon: Print the NFC tap icon next to each portrait (3 curved wave lines, 8–10mm)
Faculty Portraits
- Tag: 20mm NTAG215 (smaller)
- Position: Same — bottom-right corner of each portrait
Section Openers
- Tag: 25mm NTAG215
- Position: Upper-right corner of the spread
- Purpose: Links to a shared playlist or class video, not an individual profile
Inside Back Cover
- Tag: 30mm NTAG216
- Position: Center of the autograph page
- Purpose: Links to the class time capsule website
Important: Tags go after printing, before binding. They sit between two glued pages and are invisible. Keep tags 15mm+ from the spine.

4. Member Onboarding
When students get their yearbook, they need to create their profile:
- Tap their portrait with their phone
- Enter the class code (printed in the yearbook)
- Draw their self-portrait on the canvas
- Enter name, graduation quote, next chapter, and anthem song
- Profile is live — they can sign guestbooks and seal time capsules
Pro tip: Run a "Profile Day" during homeroom or lunch. 15 minutes, everyone creates their profile at once. It drives completion and prevents the "I'll do it later" trap.
5. Timeline
| Week | Task |
|---|---|
| Week 1 | Send class size + theme to Eventbuoy |
