Production Workflow
Timeline
- Print the yearbook pages
- Apply NFC tags to the printed sheets
- Bind pages together
Tags are applied after printing, before binding. They sit between two glued pages.

NFC Icon Placement
Every scannable portrait must have a visible NFC tap icon printed near the tag. Consistent position across all pages: bottom-right corner of each portrait.
The icon should:
- Be printed, not a sticker (part of the page design)
- Use the NFC wave symbol (3 curved lines)
- Be high-contrast against the page background
- Measure approximately 8–10mm
Programming Instructions
- Download NFC Tools (free, iOS + Android)
- Write URL to each tag:
https://<domain>/<member-id> - Test each tag immediately after programming
- Group by page type (senior, faculty, section, back cover)
- Label each tag with member name for easy matching
How-To-Scan Page (Inside Front Cover)
The printed instructions page must include:
- Step 1: Find the tap icon next to any portrait
- Step 2: Hold phone directly over the portrait for 1–2 seconds
- Step 3: Tap the notification to open the profile
Compatibility:
- iPhone 7+ (iOS 14+)
- Most Android phones (2015+)
- NFC must be enabled in settings
Troubleshooting:
- Remove thick phone cases
- Hold still for 2 full seconds
- NFC reader is near the top of the phone on most models
Access code: Display the class code prominently: "First visit? Enter class code GRAD2026"
Placement Checklist
- All tags programmed and tested before applying
- Tags placed at consistent position (bottom-right of portrait)
- NFC tap icon printed next to each scannable portrait
- Tags kept 15mm+ from spine
- No metallic foil over tag zones
- How-To-Scan page printed on inside front cover
- Time capsule tag placed in center of autograph page (inside back cover)
